| 内容記述 | The Elizabethans associated the eye with the sun. Shakespearean usage of these two words is discussed here and l hope to show that Shakespeare's association somewhat stems from a kind of word-playing. He usually uses a pun on the homophones of sun and son, and I will argue how this pun influenced him in his writing. Next, I will examine birth images in the Sonnets, and try to explain how the inherent meanings of birth in such words as bear and born affected Shakespeare’s writing. | |||||
