And the fluctuating lift coefficient was found to decrease with the increase of towing distance, from an initial maximum value to a small value same as the fluctuating lift coefficient acting on a circular cylinder in a uniform flow. In this study, effects of aspect ratio and end plate on fluctuating lift acting on a circular cylinder in a uniform flow were evaluated by standard deviation of lift data. Then, the asymptotic decreasing process of fluctuating lift was investigated by towing circular cylinders with different aspect ratios in still water.
