| 内容記述 | In this paper, we will examine English sentence stress. We will especially investigate and solve the problem why sentence stress is placed on a preposition. The main factors in the accentuation of prepositions are five in all: syntactic factor, semantic factor, pragmatic factor, phonetic (phonological) factor, and the other factor. In conclusion, we will regard semantic factor as the most important factor. |
