The characteristics of each of these earthquakes influenced the resulting damage to concrete structures. If such an earthquakes occurred in a density populated metropolitan area like Tokyo, it is feared that damage would be on a huge scale,and several organizations have been looking into the damage done by these earthquakes and studying the effectiveness of earthquake proofing methods.
