Experimental conditions　of carbonization were as follows, temperature : 400?600℃, pressure : 3 mmHg, 50 mmHg, 190 mmHg and 1 atm, respectively. 　　These coal chars were activated by steam, and some characters of chars and activated carbons were measured.　　As the results of the examination, it was found that the specific surface areas　of chars were larger and the reactivity of chars against steam were better with the decrease of pressure.
