The activated　process of coal char was carried out by steam that was accompanied by nitrogen under the total pressure of 1atm and 140 mmHg respectively， with a steam rate of 2.35 g/hr. 　　　The maximum values of specific surface area and the maximum values of adsorptivity of methylene blue on the active carbon were similar，irrespective of pressure.
