The tool wear mechanism was classified by Takeyama into two basic types : i.e. mechanical abrasion and physicochemical wear. According to the analyses and experimental results,the main findings are as follows :  (1)Physicochemical type of tool wear plays an important role in turning cast iron from the standpoint of crater and flank wear,but it has a predominant effect on the crater wear that is conditioned by a higher cutting temperature than 870 deg. C in turning steels.  (2)Under the condition of a cutting temperature lower than 870 deg. C in cutting steels the mechanism of crater wear is a combination of physicochemical wear and mechanical abrasion. (3)The flank wear mechanism is always of the mechanical abrasion type in cutting steels.}, pages = {283--290}, title = {炭素鋼および鋳鉄の切削における超硬工具の摩耗機構}, volume = {3}, year = {1972} }
