          <dc:description>In order to improve a CO_2 arc welder which operates in windy outdoor places，3 type of welding nozzles，i.e. A，B and C type were manufactured. In this case， A means a single-shielded nozzle，B means a dual-shielded nozzle and C means a swiring voltex shielded nozzle. Experiments were carried out on the distribution of　shielding　gas　velocity，the shape of jets and the effect of CO_2 gas flow-rate on welds. Results of the experiments are obtained as follows : ? 　　(1)The distribution of gas velocity with A type nozzle shows a convergent solid pattern and B type shows a semi-radial pattern. On the shape of jet，C type may have all patterns from a convergent solid to a complete radial pattern. 　From these results，it is considered that the C type nozzle is for practical welding better than the other nozzles. (2)　When A type nozzle was used，defects were not found in the welds in　the region of 70?80l/min. of CO_2 flow-rate.</dc:description>
